President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan took part in the launch ceremony of a new thermal power plant (TPP) in the Kibray district of the Tashkent region and launched the construction of another thermal power plant in the Khavast district of the Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan, Report informs via TASS.
The ceremony was held within Erdogan's official visit to Uzbekistan.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy, the capacity of the thermal power plant, which will be built in the Khavast district of the Syrdarya region, will be 1.6 GW, and its efficiency will exceed 60%, which will be one of the highest in the country. The cost of this project is estimated at $1.2 billion, and the plant is scheduled to be put into operation in 2026.
