Türkiye and Azerbaijan are the driving forces of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), the Minister of Environment, Urban Development and Climate Change of Türkiye, Murat Kurum, told Report.
According to Kurum, the OTS is entrusted with important tasks in protecting the world from environmental pollution.
"Environmental protection is a mission that concerns all of humanity. In the implementation of this task, Türkiye and Azerbaijan, acting as the driving force of the OTS, play an exemplary role. We, as the ministry that I head, have closely cooperated with Azerbaijan in the preparation for COP29. In response to such positive activities, Azerbaijan has openly supported Türkiye in the process of nominating our candidacy to host the COP31 conference. Successful cooperation in the field of ecology between the two countries is a good example for the entire Turkic world and the world as a whole," he said.
Murat Kurum emphasized that the OTS is not only a structure formed as a large family, but also an international organization with growing authority, capable of taking decisive actions and implementing large-scale initiatives in the fight against climate change.
