Minister: It's not right time for Ukraine to join NATO

Ukraine is not pursuing NATO membership while military operations are ongoing within its territory, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha‎ stated, Report informs via the local press.

Sybiha‎ made this statement during a briefing at a meeting of NATO member countries' foreign ministers in Brussels.

"Indeed, it is difficult to talk about the possibility of NATO membership for a country where military operations are being conducted. This is the position of some NATO countries who think it could draw them directly into the war. Ukraine is not pushing for this," Sybiha‎ said.

The foreign minister emphasized that this is a strategic issue for Ukraine. He also noted that NATO's summits in Vilnius and Washington have clearly confirmed the inevitability of Ukraine's NATO membership.

According to Sybiha‎, bilateral security agreements with partners strengthen Ukraine's position on the path to NATO membership.
