The negotiations between the Ukrainian and US delegations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, lasted eight hours, the Spokesperson of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Heorhii Tykhyi, said in a post on his social network account, Report informs.
He said Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is on a visit to Saudi Arabia, communicated remotely with the Ukrainian delegation.
"The negotiations in Jeddah were one of the most amazing negotiations I have ever participated in, precisely in terms of the art of diplomacy, strategic thinking, the search for non-standard solutions, the right balance of flexibility and determination, the ability to take tactical steps for the sake of the ultimate goal. All this was demonstrated yesterday by the Ukrainian delegation and, primarily, by the president of Ukraine, who directed its activities from a distance," he noted.
According to Heorhii Tykhyi, Ukraine "completely seized the strategic diplomatic initiative and changed the course of the game" in the negotiations.
As a result of the meeting, the United States resumed military assistance to Ukraine and the exchange of intelligence information. The US side also proposed the introduction of a 30-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
