Russia is making active efforts to facilitate finding a solution between the US and Iran, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said in an interview with TASS, Report informs.
"We are not weakening our efforts aimed at facilitating an active search for necessary negotiated solutions. We believe they are quite achievable with proper reliance on international law, the principle of equal and indivisible security, as well as with a carefully calibrated balance of interests and step-by-step movement that allows strengthening and building trust through compliance with agreements reached. We would like to believe that both the US and Iran fully realize this," he noted.
The fifth round of US-Iranian negotiations on Tehran's nuclear program took place on May 23 in Rome. Following the discussions, Oman's Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, who serves as a mediator in the negotiation process, said that the US and Iran had achieved "certain, but not final progress."
Later, US President Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social page that Washington would not allow Tehran to enrich uranium as part of a potential agreement on its nuclear program.
Meanwhile, Axios wrote that the United States' proposals to Iran on ways to resolve disagreements over its nuclear developments provide for Tehran to continue uranium enrichment, contrary to public statements by American officials on this matter.
