A reception was held at the embassy of Azerbaijan in Ukraine on May 28 - Azerbaijan's Independence Day, Report informs.
Representatives of diplomatic missions of different countries also participated in the reception, which started with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Ukraine.
Seymur Mardaliyev, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine, who spoke at the event, gave detailed information to the guests about the history of Azerbaijan's independence, the 2020 Patriotic War, and the results of the September 2023 anti-terrorist operation.
He said that Azerbaijan, which fully restored its territorial integrity, regained its independence and sovereignty form for the first time: "Modern Azerbaijan, which was founded by the great leader Heydar Aliyev and ruled by the Victorious Commander-in-Chief President Ilham Aliyev with a successful strategy, is today the most powerful state in the region."
In particular, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis spoke about the strategic format of Ukrainian-Azerbaijani relations and the importance of humanitarian and political support given by Baku to Kyiv. Azerbaijan started providing humanitarian assistance from the first day of the war in Ukraine.
Moreover, member of the Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Klochko, who participated in the event, told Report that Azerbaijan remains the leader of many international processes: "These relations are getting stronger every year. We see that today, our countries are communicating closely. Trade relations between our countries are being renewed."
"Azerbaijan's assistance to Ukraine was very useful and timely. We are grateful to the President and people of Azerbaijan for accepting our refugees and giving them shelter, as well as for the humanitarian assistance provided by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). Azerbaijan has restored destroyed and damaged schools, kindergartens and infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. This is commendable," he added.
Azerbaijanis living in different regions of Ukraine also attended the reception. Although air-raid warnings sounded during the event, the reception continued as the venue was in a fairly safe place.
