Meeting of FMs of Caspian states scheduled for year-end in Ashgabat

A meeting of the Caspian states' foreign ministers is scheduled to be held in Ashgabat at the end of the year, said Chargé d'Affaires of Russia in Turkmenistan Petr Shchukin, Report informs referring to Turkmen media.

"Considering the geostrategic, political, resource, transport and economic potential of the Caspian region, its role as a key link located in the heart of Eurasia will only increase. The significance of the North-South international transport corridor, which passes through all the states of the Caspian region, is also increasing, and work on its development is currently underway," he noted.

He added that to date, an impressive legal framework for regional cooperation has been created from nine five-party interstate agreements and protocols, noting that a number of other documents are in development or in the process of ratification.
