Media: Suspect in Istanbul terror attack conducted reconnaissance for 3 days

A native of Syria, Ahlam Albashir, suspected of committing a terror attack in Istanbul, shortly before the incident, conducted reconnaissance on Istiklal Street, Report informs referring to Turkish media.

“It became known that the terrorists who attacked Taksim on November 13, carried out preparatory work for three days before the attack,” the media said.

Recordings from CCTV cameras were analyzed, the testimony of the detainees was compared during the investigation. It was established that Albashir arrived in Taksim three days before the attack. She conducted intelligence with the participation of a man who is a member of a terrorist organization.

After the bombing, Albashir left the scene in a taxi.

On November 13, an explosion occurred on the pedestrian Istiklal Street in one of the central districts of Istanbul. The Turkish Ministry of Justice said that it was a terror attack, which was carried out on behalf of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). The explosion killed 6 people, more than 80 were injured. In turn, the PKK denied involvement in the attack.
