Matvienko: PACE in crisis, solution needed

Russia welcomes positive signals and appeals of PACE to form a Russian delegation and is ready for dialogue, chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council, Valentina Matviyenko said during her visit to Baku.

"Positive signals are coming from the PACE leadership, sensible politicians and deputies and this is good. They understand that PACE is really in crisis, which will generally extend to the Council of Europe, and that a solution must be found. We welcome such positive signals, we do not distance ourselves and we are ready for further dialogue, " Matvienko said.

Notably, earlier the PACE adopted a resolution in which for the first time since the crisis it called on Russia to form its delegation, as well as to pay a contribution to the budget of the Council of Europe.
