Lukashenko: CSTO countries need new solutions to strengthen security

The CSTO member countries will have to find new solutions to strengthen their security, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said while opening the CSTO summit in Minsk, Report informs referring to Belarus media.

“Our organization remains an integral element of ensuring the security of its member states and the Eurasian region as a whole,” he noted.

According to Lukashenko, "today we can state that the goals set by the Belarusian side in November last year have been generally achieved. The results of the work are a collective success, the merit of all CSTO participants."

He added that Belarus, during its chairmanship in the CSTO, could not have realized its plans without the support of “friends and partners.”

“I am convinced that today’s meeting will be no less productive,” said the president of Belarus, adding that the agenda of the summit includes current problems of international and regional security.

“It is necessary to analyze the main trends in the development of the modern military-political situation, the zone of responsibility of the CSTO in the world as a whole, as well as in the region,” Lukashenko said.
