The leader of Syria's new authorities, Ahmed al-Sharaa, will make his first foreign visit to Türkiye. It may take place in the shortest possible time, Report informs via the Yeni Safak newspaper.
According to the publication, the visit was supposed to take place in the coming days but was postponed due to changes in the program.
During the visit, al-Sharaa is expected to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whom the leader of the new Syrian authorities intends to thank for support in overthrowing Bashar Assad's administration.
The publication recalls that the first foreign representative to visit Damascus after the opposition came to power in Syria was the head of Turkish intelligence service Ibrahim Kalin.
He was followed by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who also visited the Syrian capital.
