Lavrov notes US role in Ukraine's accepting proposal for talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has noted the positive role of the US in Ukraine's accepting Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal to resume talks in Istanbul, reads a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Report informs via TASS.

"Sergey Lavrov noted the positive role of the US, which contributed to Kyiv ultimately accepting Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal to resume talks in Istanbul," the statement said.

The Russian foreign minister "confirmed Moscow's readiness to continue working together with American colleagues in this context."

The conversation took place at Rubio's initiative.
