Armenia would benefit from the deployment of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) mission and would have more stability, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with Tsargrad TV, Report informs.
"In the fall of 2022, for the summit of the organization in Yerevan, a document was prepared on the deployment of a CSTO observer mission on Armenian territory following the request of our Armenian allies. The document was fully agreed upon at the level of foreign ministers. Then, at the last moment, at the summit itself, Armenian friends asked to postpone its adoption. Until now, it remains on paper and cannot be implemented," Lavrov said.
According to the Russian minister, "if Yerevan had confirmed what had already been agreed and remained ready for signing and entry into force, I am convinced that Armenia would have benefitted and more stability."
On April 13, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told reporters in parliament that Armenia is ready to host a CSTO mission, but discussions still continue.
