Certain politicians in Ukraine are trying to worsen relations between Georgia and Russia, which is alarming, candidate for the post of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists, Report informs referring to Georgian media.
On February 5, the State Security Service of Georgia announced that an attempt to transport a cargo of explosives from Odessa to Voronezh was prevented. Seven citizens of Georgia, three citizens of Ukraine and two citizens of Armenia are suspected of the crime. A citizen of Ukraine, a native of the Georgian city of Batumi, Alexander Sharashidze, is accused of organizing the crime.
At the same time, it is even more alarming when these attempts are supported by representatives of Georgian NGOs, in particular, Transparency International Georgia, Kobakhidze added.
“These people cannot hide their evil intentions towards the state. They want a second front, the development of difficult scenarios in Georgia,” he emphasized.
Commenting on the statement of the Ukrainian Embassy in Georgia, in which the diplomatic department called on Tbilisi to refrain from politicizing the case of transporting explosives through Georgian territory to Russia, Kobakhidze noted that the security of Georgia is a political issue.
