Kazakhstan's Aktau port to expand this year

Maritime transport and port in the Kazakhstani city of Aktau will be expanded in 2025, Report informs referring to the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.

Construction of a container hub has begun at the port of Aktau to develop maritime transport, which will increase its capacity to 240,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent) per year.

It is noted that this will strengthen Kazakhstan's position in the international logistics arena and allow for increased container transportation along the Trans-Caspian route through Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye, as well as redirect some of the transit cargo coming from China to Europe.

The ministry reported that dredging works are planned in the port, which will increase its terminal capacity and make it more efficient for container transportation.
