Kazakhstan ratifies protocol on protection of Caspian Sea from pollution

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law on the ratification of the protocol on the protection of the Caspian Sea from pollution from land-based sources and as a result of activities carried out onshore to the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea, the press service of the President of Kazakhstan said in a statement.

Report informs, citing TASS, that the protocol was signed in December 2012 in Moscow. The purpose of the document is to prevent, reduce, control, and, as far as possible, eliminate pollution of the marine environment from land-based sources and as a result of activities carried out on land to achieve and maintain an eco-friendly marine environment in the Caspian Sea.
