Kazakhstan elects new speaker of Senate

Deputies of the Senate of Kazakhstan voted unanimously for the election of Maulen Ashimbaev as the chairman of the upper house of parliament.

Report informs citing Sputnik-Kazakhstan that 50 ballots were issued to deputies of the Senate for voting.

50 were confiscated, 50 were also in favor, there were no invalid ones, no abstentions, the chamber noted.

Today Tokayev nominated his candidacy for the position of speaker of the Senate.

Ashimbayev has been chairing the upper house of parliament since May 2020.
