Kaladze fails getting enough votes, Tbilisi to hold repeat election

The votes from all 769 polling stations for the mayoral election in the Georgian capital Tbilisi have been counted, Report informs.

The candidate of the ruling Georgian Dream Party, Kakha Kaladze, received 45.04% of the vote.

Opposition United National Movement candidate Nika Melia received 33.96% of the vote, while former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia received 9.36%.

Thus, the second round of mayoral elections turned out to be inevitable. In this round, the competition will be between Kakha Kaladze and Nika Melia. The candidate with the majority of votes will be elected mayor.
