ISW: Ukraine forces advance in 2 directions

Ukrainian troops have taken the southern part of Klishchiivka near Bakhmut. In the south, the Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced in the direction of the village of Verbove, which is 18 km southeast of Orikhove, Report informs referring to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

“Ukrainian forces continued offensive operations near Bakhmut and advanced on September 3. Geolocated footage published on September 3 indicates that Ukrainian forces advanced further into southern Klishchiivka (7km southwest of Bakhmut).

Ukrainian Tavriisk Group of Forces Commander Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, who commands the Ukrainian grouping in southern Ukraine, stated that Russian forces devoted 60 percent of their time and resources into building the series of defensive positions that Ukrainian forces have now breached and only 20 percent each to the two subsequent defensive layers further south.”
