Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen arrived on May 2 on a visit to Brussels, where he met with President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, Report informs referring to TASS.
One of the main topics of their meeting was joint opposition to Iran, including the prospects for including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of the Iranian Armed Forces) in the European list of terrorist organizations.
“I met with the President of the European Parliament President. Europe understands the danger of the Iranian reign of terror now more than ever. We discussed ways to promote a determined fight against the Iranian nuclear plans, with an emphasis on the expansion of economic and political sanctions. In addition, we discussed adding the Revolutionary Guards to the Union's list of terrorist organizations,” Cohen tweeted.
“I started my visit to the European Union meeting with Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi. We agreed that the Union would not transfer funds to the PA that would consequently be used for incitement. I explained that we are not opposed to humanitarian aid but we will not allow money to go indirectly to factors that encourage incitement and terrorism.
We also discussed promoting projects in the Middle East that would strengthen Israel's status and our relationship with Europe,” Cohen also wrote.
