Iranian FM: Principle of uranium enrichment not subject to discussion with US

Iran is ready to discuss the issue of uranium enrichment with the US on acceptable terms, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said at a press conference, Report informs via SNN.

He noted that this is possible if Washington stops insisting on the complete elimination of the Iranian nuclear program.

"We will be able to start negotiations on a possible deal if the Americans take a constructive position. The issue of uranium enrichment by Iran is a real issue, and we are ready to work on strengthening trust in the Iranian nuclear program, despite some concerns. But the principle of enrichment itself is not subject to discussion," he added.

The first round of talks between Iran and the US on the nuclear issue took place on April 12, in Oman. The second round will be held there on April 19.
