The 3+3 regional format can be used to achieve peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani said at a seminar on "Promoting the Shanghai spirit: SCO in action" held at Yerevan State University, Report informs via Armenian press.
"Iran is in contact with both Armenia and Azerbaijan and supports stability and peace on the border. During these discussions, we call on the parties to move towards signing a peace agreement. Iran believes that any step that would lead to tension should be avoided," Sobhani said.
According to the ambassador, the Iranian authorities are ready to support any format proposed by the parties to achieve peace.
"I believe that from this perspective, 3+3 is a good regional format and we can use it to move towards a peace agreement," he noted.
