Iran vows revenge for Hamas leader's assassination on its soil

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has declared that avenging the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh is Iran's duty, as he was killed on the Iranian soil. Haniyeh was killed on July 31 in Tehran, where he had arrived to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran's new president, Masoud Pezeshkian.

In a strongly-worded statement, Khamenei said, "By killing Haniyeh, Israel has laid the foundation for severe punishment."
