Iran’s COVID-19 death toll surges 4,683

Iran has reported 98 more death cases due to the novel coronavirus, Report says, citing IRNA.

Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour told reporters that 1,617 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total infections to 74,877.

According to him, 48,129 people have recovered so far and were discharged from hospitals, while 3,691 are in critical condition.

Notably, the first case of COVID-19 emerged in late December in the Chinese city of Wuhan. So far, 210 countries globally have reported confirmed cases of the infection.

The global tally stands at 1,933,800, resulting in 456,539 recoveries, while and 120,434 of those infected died.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
