Iran replaces SWIFT system with ACUMER

Iran has replaced the SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) system with the ACUMER financial exchange system, the Central Bank head Mohammad Reza Farzin said, Report informs, citing the Telegram channel of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (Sepah).

A bilateral currency agreement has been signed with Russia. Under the agreement, dollar payments between the parties have been completely eliminated, with toman and ruble being introduced as alternatives. The ACUMER system allows cooperation with India, Pakistan, and other countries that are members of the Asian Clearing Union (Clearing - a system of mutual settlements for securities and derivative financial instruments).

Farzin noted that cyber attacks on the banking network have been frequent in the past two years: "This requires strengthening its stability. Although certain measures have been taken, they are not yet sufficient."
