Iran may withdraw from Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty

Iran does not rule out the possibility of withdrawing from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said, Report informs referring to Mehr news agency.

Commenting on the recent decision of the European Union to declare the IRGC a ‘terrorist’ group, the minister said that the decision of the Iranian parliament, which obliges the government to recognize the armies of European countries as terrorist, is a countermeasure.

Speaking about his conversation with EU Foreign Minister Josep Borrell, Amir-Abdollahian said that the European Parliament resolution has no binding force and is just an expression of the feelings of part of the European parliamentarians.

Answering a question about whether withdrawal from the NPT would be one of Iran’s countermeasures, the minister said that “if they (European political leaders - ed.) do not return to rationality and correct their position, any measures are possible.”
