Hulusi Akar: We support peaceful end to tensions between Ukraine and Russia

"As we have always said, within the framework of international law, we support a peaceful end to tensions between Ukraine and Russia based on respect for territorial integrity."

Report informs, citing TRT Haber, that Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said in a video conference with the commanders.

Pointing out that they are closely following the events in Ukraine, the Minister noted that Ukraine is a strategic ally of Turkey:

"Turkey is closely interested in their future. We have made our statements as a state on the issue of their safety, peace, and territorial integrity. Thus, we do not recognize the occupation of Crimea. Our country has expressed its concern about the existence and future of the Crimean Tatars there. As always, within the framework of international law, we support a peaceful end to tensions between Ukraine and Russia. For this reason, as Turkey, we are ready to provide all possible assistance to both sides in holding meetings and talks to resolve the problem as soon as possible."
