Hulusi Akar: Turkiye striving not to turn Black Sea into conflict zone 

"Over the years, the Montreux status has continued very successfully. Along with being beneficial to all littoral states, the convention also regulates the entry and exit of other countries," Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said, Report informs.

According to him, the repeal of the Montreux Convention and the change of the status quo will not benefit anyone: "We consider it helpful to protect of the Montreux Convention. The Minister of National Defense said that Turkiye will continue to implement Articles 19, 20 and 21 of the Montreux Convention: "We are striving not to turn the Black Sea into a conflict zone. As a country with the longest coast to the Black Sea, we have maintained this concept as a principle. As Turkiye, in all our meetings, we have made efforts to maintain peace, tranquillity and a secure environment in the Black Sea."
