Head of Armenian Diaspora in Russia's Saratov leaves post after scandal involving his son

The head of the Armenian diaspora in Balakovo, Russia's Saratov region, Petik Aspoyan, resigned from his position following a scandal involving his son who beat up a girl, Report informs referring to News.ru.

He left his position as chairman of the "Urartu National-Cultural Armenian Center."

A video appeared on social media showing his 25-year-old son Artem dragging a blonde woman by her hair in a bar while shouting insults.

After this incident, the troublemaker's father claimed that the girl had first started insulting the young man in Armenian.

Artem Aspoyan has been placed on an interstate wanted list, and a criminal case has been opened for hooliganism.

According to the former head of the Armenian diaspora, his son is not in Balakovo and had previously purchased tickets to Moscow.
