Syrian Turkmens are calling for representation in the new Syrian administration, according to the article published by Haber Global, Report informs.
The Syrian Turkmens, who were not included in the new administration, expressed their concerns about this exclusion.
“During the civil war, the Syrian Turkmens fought against the regime army and faced attacks from both ISIS and the YPG, suffering significant losses. All organizations within the Federation of Syrian Turkmen Associations welcomed the revolution but were disappointed by their lack of inclusion.
Dr. Tarik Sulo Cevizci, speaking on behalf of the Turkmens, voiced their concerns about the new administration and emphasized their desire to be invited to the Syrian National Dialogue Congress, which will shape the new era. "Syria has a multicultural structure, but we are concerned that the transitional administration acts alone in some appointments and decisions. We want to be more inclusive and pluralistic," Cevizci stated.
According to Cevizci, the Syrian Turkmens also expressed concern about the dissolution of the Syrian National Army, given the ongoing threats from ISIS and the YPG. They emphasized that they do not want a constitution based on ethnic sectarian principles.
Cevizci noted that Turkmen organizations gathered in Istanbul also opposed an ethnically based constitution:
“The Syrian Turkmens, who assert they are the second largest community in Syria after the Arabs, are advocating for education in Turkish. They are also calling for an end to land seizures that occurred during the Assad regime and for the elimination of injustices against their community.”
