Germany to deport 49,330 foreigners

The Federal Republic of Germany announced the total number of refugees who applied for asylum in 2022.

In 2022, The German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) received a total of 217,774 asylum applications from citizens of various foreign countries, the federal office said in response to the request of the European bureau of Report.

This means an increase of 46.9% compared to the same period last year. 24,791 of the initial applications were for newborns in Germany.

The federal administration made a decision on 228,673 initial and persecution application in the same period. The proportion of those who received asylum was 56.2%. The asylum applications of 49,330 people were rejected, and deportation orders were issued against them by local courts. 50,880 applications were not processed due to the Dublin procedures or the withdrawal of the asylum application.

At the end of December 2022, the number of pending cases was 136,448.
