Georgia to strenghen cultural ties between ethnic minorities

"Our goal is that all ethnic groups living in Georgia got acquainted with each other's culture, language, and traditions within the intercultural dialogue and integration," said Georgia's State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Tea Akhvlediani.

Report's local bureau quotes her as saying that there are plans to support the theaters, museums, libraries, and cultural events of various ethnic groups.

According to the minister, one of the main conditions for strengthening the tolerance and development of a democratic society in ethnically diverse Georgia is promoting cultural diversity, protection, and respect of cultural heritage and strengthening intercultural ties.

Akhvlediani noted that the main goals of the action strategy for the next ten years are to improve the welfare, social equality, and living conditions of each member of an ethnically diverse society and expand access to government programs and services.
