Georgia ready to discuss resumption of flights with Russia

"If Russia has a political will and the epidemiological situation allows, we can raise the issue to resume flights," Special Representative of the Georgian Prime Minister for Relations with Russia, Zurab Abashidze told, local Bureau of Report says.  

According to him, Georgia is interested in solving the most challenging problems in relations with Russia: "The conflicts are mainly related to the occupied territories. Diplomatic relations were suspended after the occupation of Georgian lands. Unfortunately, we have not achieved any progress in this regard. The issue of restoring diplomatic relations is not on the list.

Notably, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he hoped the resumption of air communication with Georgia was a matter of the near future.

Russia banned direct flights to Georgia since July 8 last year.
