Georgia may extend restrictions for six months

The Georgian government's mandate to impose restrictions during a coronavirus pandemic without declaring a state of emergency may be prolonged by six months.

According to Report's local bureau, the country has prepared a legislative initiative in this regard.

Dimitri Khundadze, chairman of the parliamentary health committee, said that the revisions to the law on public health would prevent COVID-19 damages: "We hope that there will be no need to extend the validity of the amendments in the future. Thus, the coronavirus vaccine is expected to be available in Georgia within six months.

In July this year, amendments to the law authorized the Georgian government to take restrictive measures without imposing a state of emergency until January 1, 2021.
