Georgia detains 2 more people over Saakashvili’s illegal border crossing

Georgian law enforcement officers have detained two more people as part of the case of illegal state border crossing by former Georgia president Mikheil Saakashvili, Report informs referring to TASS.

“Two more people were detained on the fact of concealing a crime. The very route of entry of convicted Saakashvili is known, and investigation is underway. The investigation is also underway under Article 344, which implies illegal crossing of the state border by a migrant and the creation of appropriate conditions for this,” prosecutor Levan Vepkhvadze said.

Saakashvili was detained in Georgia on October 1 after he published a video in which he claimed to have arrived in Batumi. The former president was arrested and is currently in prison in Rustavi city, not far from Tbilisi.
