Gas price in Armenia to rise from April 1

The price of liquefied gas will rise in Armenia, Report informs citing Jamanak.

According to the new changes proposed to the Tax Code, liquefied gas for cars will be sold by weight not by volume.

The article states that according to the current Tax Code, the minimal cubic meter of liquefied gas is 25,000 drams ($ 52). Now, the government proposes to set the cost of one ton of liquid gas at 34,000 drams ($ 70).

Although government officials say it will not have an impact on tax payments, owners of natural gas stations say that this change will raise the cost of fuel by 10-20 percent.

The law will come into force on April 1.
