French Ambassador to Yerevan: Armenia recognized Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan back in 1991

Karabakh is the territory of Azerbaijan, this is recognized by both the international community and Armenia itself, French Ambassador to Yerevan Olivier Decottignies said in an interview with the Public Radio of Armenia.

"If you are talking about the issue of recognizing the government of 'Nagorno-Karabakh', it has never been recognized by the international community or even by Armenia. Moreover, Armenia recognized that Karabakh is part of Azerbaijan back in the Almaty Declaration, since it was a region, an area of Soviet Azerbaijan. Those who claim that Armenia recognized 'Nagorno-Karabakh' as part of Azerbaijan in Prague in 2022 are lying. Armenia recognized this back in the Almaty Declaration, and Prague is only referring to this declaration," the French diplomat said.
