Former Russian billionaire flees to Dubai, avoiding mobilization

The former billionaire of Russia, well-known businessman Sergei Polonsky, evaded the partial mobilization and immigrated to the United Arab Emirates, Report informs, citing Mash.

Polonsky decided to leave the country, thinking he would be called up because he had completed active military service in the Air Force. He went to the UAE to teach business to Russian immigrants.

Polonsky was born on December 1, 1972, in Leningrad, Soviet Union. He is the owner and head of one of the largest real estate companies in Russia, Mirax Group (2004–2011). Now, he is a shareholder and investor in a number of commercial structures incorporated by the holding company Potok. He is currently awaiting trial in Moscow on charges of fraud. On July 12, 2017, he was found guilty, but the judge ruled that too much time had passed since the crime was committed for the court's decision to be implemented.
