Former Kyrgyz president leaves country after his release

Former Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev has left the country after being released from prison, Report informs referring to 24.kg portal.

Atambayev flew to Dubai, after which he will fly to Spain for treatment. He is accompanied by his son Kadyrbek.

Earlier, the Supreme Court of the country overturned the sentence against him and sent the criminal case for a new trial.

Atambayev was president from 2011 to 2017. Several criminal cases were initiated against him, including in connection with the riots on August 7-8, 2019 in the village of Koy-Tash, as well as corruption and money laundering and the illegal issuance of passports to Turkish citizens.
