Former Georgian PM nominates himself for post of Tbilisi Mayor

Former Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has put forward his candidacy for the post of Tbilisi Mayor, the Georgian bureau of Report informs.

He made the remark at the ceremony of nominating candidates for municipal elections from the party “For Georgia” led by him.

In his speech, Gakharia said that the party “For Georgia” is the only political organization whose authority is growing in the country.

Gakharia was the head of the Georgian government from September 2019 to February 18, 2021. The retired 46-year-old politician also left the ruling Georgian Dream party. In May of this year, he created the party “For Georgia.”

Municipal elections in Georgia will be held on October 2 this year.
