A forest fire has erupted in the Kepez town in Türkiye"s Canakkale province, Report informs via Turkish media outlets.
Both aerial and ground operations are underway to contain the blaze. Five aircraft, five helicopters, 32 water trucks, 14 fire engines, and a team of 455 personnel have been deployed to the scene.
According to Canakkale Governor Omer Toraman, one village has been evacuated. He noted that strong winds are contributing to the spread of the fire.
Due to the incident, the Canakkale Strait and the Canakkale–Ezine highway have been temporarily closed. Operations at Canakkale Airport have also been suspended.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
