Finnish president to visit Türkiye on March 16-17

Finnish President Sauli Niinistö will visit Türkiye on March 16-17 at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Report informs referring to Turkish media.

Negotiations between the two leaders will take place on March 17 in Istanbul.

The sides will consider all aspects of Turkish-Finnish relations and discuss steps to improve cooperation between the two countries.

In addition to bilateral relations, it is also envisaged to exchange views on Finland’s NATO membership bid, Türkiye-EU relations and current regional and global issues based on the Tripartite Memorandum signed on the sidelines of the NATO Madrid Summit.

Earlier a member of the Security Council and foreign policy under the President of Türkiye and the rector of the university Altinbas Cagri Erhan said that Finland and Sweden might join NATO in the fall or winter if they fulfill their promises to fight Kurdish separatists.
