Faculty of Azerbaijani language, literature may be opened in Georgian university

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Faig Guliyev met with Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) Giorgi Sharvashidze, the embassy told Report's local bureau.

Sharvashidze said he was pleased to see the Azerbaijani ambassador at Georgia's educational institution, which has historical importance. He added that cooperation between the strategic partner countries continues to grow in all areas, including education.

The sides also exchanged views on the continuation of work on the development of cooperation between Baku State University (BSU) and TSU. They discussed the importance of mutual visits of rectors.

The rector said he was in Azerbaijan to participate in the event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of BSU on November 26, 2019. He was proud to see the pace of development of Azerbaijan and was ready to cooperate with Azerbaijani universities.

The sides focused on the establishment of the faculty of Azerbaijani language and literature at TSU and the elimination of staff shortage in Azerbaijani-language schools in Georgia.

The ambassador thanked the TSU rector for the great importance and support he attached to relations with Azerbaijan, emphasizing that ties between the university and the embassy will continue to develop.

Guliyev got acquainted with the reconstruction and restoration work carried out at the Heydar Aliyev Center at TSU. The university administration said that the repair work at the center would be completed by the beginning of the next academic year.
