EU official mulls nuclear deal talks with Iranian deputy FM

Enrique Mora, political director of the EU Foreign Service, met with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani in Tehran on Sunday, Report informs, citing TASS.

According to the information, the parties discussed the negotiations on the nuclear deal in Vienna, including outstanding issues. In addition, Mora provided information on his latest consultations on this topic with other parties to the negotiations.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was signed with Iran in 2015 to address the crisis over its nuclear program by a five plus one permanent group. Former US President Donald Trump decided to pull out of the agreement in 2018. Current US President Joe Biden has repeatedly signaled his readiness to return the United States to the JCPOA.

Russia, Britain, Germany, China, France, and the United States have been negotiating with Iran in Vienna to restore the JCPOA in its original form since April last year.
