EU concerned over Iran's potential retaliation

The European Union is “very much focused on the diplomatic solution” for Iran, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said Monday following US strikes on Iran over the weekend, Report informs.

Kallas said at the start of a foreign ministers’ meeting in Brussels that a particular concern is Iran's potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which would be extremely dangerous and disadvantageous for all parties involved:

"We have already discussed the situation around Iran. However, we will undoubtedly continue this discussion. We are addressing the situation in the Middle East in a broader context."

In response to a question regarding the situation in Gaza and Article 2 of the EU-Israel Association Agreement, she noted that a review on this matter has already been prepared: "All member states have received it. We will continue the discussion."
