Türkiye will need less effort to survive the period after the US imposes new tariffs, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party in Ankara, Report informs via Turkish media.
"Since we are in the group of countries that have been subject to low tariffs, we believe that we will get through this period easier than many other countries. It is clear that the trade war provoked by tariffs will have a global impact. It is no exaggeration to say that the coming storm will affect everyone," he noted.
He added that the government's economic program has made Türkiye resilient to external shocks.
On April 2, US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of tariffs on products from 185 countries, including Türkiye (10%).
