Erdogan: Turkiye supports development of ties with Turkic-speaking states

Turkiye attaches a great importance to the development of ties with the Turkic-speaking states, President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan told a briefing before leaving for Samarkand for participation in the 9th summit of the Turkic-speaking states.

Report informs via Turkish media that the Turkish leader said the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) plays a special role in this process.

Erdogan said further steps are needed to strengthen the positions of the Turkic-speaking states in the international arena.

The Turkish president reminded that Ankara's efforts to strengthen cooperation with the Turkic-speaking countries continue since 1992.

"According to the results of the last year's summit in Istanbul, it was decided to continue cooperation in the format of the Organization of Turkic States. During the period of Turkiye's presidency in the organization, we sought to fulfill all decisions adopted by the OTS leaders. In Samarkand, the presidency will pass to our Uzbek brothers," the Turkish leader said.

Erdogan voiced confidence that the OTS summit in Samarkand will become a new milestone in the interaction between the Turkic states.
