Erdogan, Trump talk over phone

Erdogan condemned the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump, during which the politician was injured, and wished him a speedy recovery.

The Turkish leader called the incident an "attack on democracy." He also praised Trump's resilience after the assassination attempt.

According to Erdogan, the fact that Trump has continued his campaign program since the attack should be seen as an indicator of trust in the American people.

Erdogan said Trump showed strong leadership with messages of unity aimed at calming tensions after the assassination attempt.

The Turkish president also congratulated Donald Trump on his nomination as the US presidential candidate from the Republican Party.
