Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has left for Sochi, Russia, to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The program of the Leaders' Summit does not include an inter-delegation meeting.

They will meet in private to discuss the situation in Syria.

Erdogan will draw attention to the presence of the terrorist PKK armed group in Tel Rifaat and Manbij, Syria. He will emphasize the need to put an end to terrorism in those regions under the agreements reached between the parties in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

During a meeting between Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Vladimir Putin in Sochi in October 2019, they agreed to move the terrorist PKK / YPG to 30 km south of the Euphrates River. But now the situation is far from what Ankara expects.

There have been recent attacks on Turkey from Russian-controlled areas of Syria. The Turkish leader will convey his country's concerns and the prevention of attacks to his Russian counterpart.

Since 2017, Ankara and Moscow have been paying special attention to the Syrian province of Idlib. Negotiations were launched to destroy terrorist organizations in the region to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe around Idlib. The agreement signed by the leaders at a meeting in Sochi on September 17, 2018, was an essential step in this direction. As a result, Russia and the regime in Damascus were able to prevent attacks in the region for some time. However, Bashar al-Assad often violated the agreement. To prevent this, Erdogan and Putin met in Moscow.

In the last three years, Idlib province has been the most critical issue in relations between Turkey and Russia. The leaders carried out an exceptional diplomatic service to overcome the obstacle in the way of connections. Therefore, the problem will be discussed again at the Sochi meeting.

The summit will discuss regional and global issues, including the situation in Libya and Afghanistan and Turkish-Russian ties.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be accompanied by Hakan Fidan, chief of the National Intelligence Organization, Fakhraddin Altun, head of the Presidential Administration's Communications Department, and Ibrahim Kalin, presidential spokesman.
