Erdogan calls for recognition of Palestine’s independence within 1967 borders 

"The recognition of Palestine as an independent state within the borders of 1967 can overcome all conflicts in the region," the President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said at the meeting of the parliamentary faction of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), Report informs.

“We regret the deaths of civilians in Israel as a result of the conflict between Israel and the Gaza Strip,” Erdogan said. “At the same time, we do not accept the bombing of innocent people in Gaza."

The President noted that the international community promised to ensure the rights of the Palestinian people but did not follow through: "We want an immediate cessation of clashes in the region and a solution to the problems through discussion."

Noting the telephone conversation with the leaders of Palestine, Israel, and Russia, Erdogan emphasized that they are ready to fulfill their duties as a state of the region: "All this can be overcome with the recognition of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of 1967."
